Career Opportunities

Thorbardin Ranch occasionally has openings for both part-time and permanent jobs on their ranches. The current openings are listed below.

Intern Program General Notes:

Thorbardin Ranch is an aggressive cattle company working in the 21st century. It needs educated individuals who want to take agriculture and cattle ranching to the next level.

Thorbardin Ranch will provide an opportunity to earn money and continue your education, to train with people who manage the day-to-day business of a large cattle ranch, and to combine your academic study with on-the-job experience.

The Thorbardin Ranch Intern Program will give each of the participants:

  • A broader perspective on how a large cattle ranch operates in a sustainable manner.
  • The opportunity to acquire specific skills that are needed to pursue their professional goals and aspirations in the agriculture field.
  • The opportunity for hands-on work experience in their field of study.

Pay is based on previous ranch experience.

Summer Season

Thorbardin Ranch will need 4 summer interns for the upcoming summer. Work would start in mid-May and go through August.

Duties will include calving, breeding, fencing, haying along with the installation of a major water project to water cattle in arid pastures. There will also be a number of construction projects of all types that interns will be exposed to.

Intern must be enrolled in a college agriculture program or range management. Thorbardin Ranch will work with the intern’s advisor to setup up an independent study program to allow the intern to gain additional college credit via writing a paper on the project at the end of the semester.

Intern must be able to work outside in all types of weather. He/she must also be mature, reliable and be able to finish the tasks assigned them. No previous ranching experience needed, but it helps.
