Hunting

Thorbardin Ranch offers guided hunts for antelope, coyote, and prairie dogs on its ranches.  We also offer day rates for prairie dogs, coyotes, and waterfowl.

Large game in Wyoming requires drawing for a license.  Antelope and mule deer are quite easy; elk can be difficult and may require hunters to build up points from year to year.

Thorbardin Ranch is working on a number of wildlife habitat projects that we expect within a few years we will have some trophy mule deer at our Laramie Ranch for hunters.

About ethical hunters:

In the past few years there has been a disturbing trend among big game hunters who want the racks and the photos but dispose of the carcass.  Many of these hunters even say they cannot afford the processing of the meat; which is an outrage when one costs out their gear.  Thorbardin Ranch understands that many hunters many not want the meat from their animal; however, in almost every town there is a waiting list of families that could use the meat.  The local processing plants and churches always have a list of families that would take game meat.  It is important for hunters to step up and do the right thing.  Have the animal processed and donate the meat to those that will benefit from it.  It is the moral and ethical thing to do.

Antelope Hunting

Antelope is one of the most exhilarating hunts there are.  Most antelopes are taken in the 200-400 yard range.  Antelopes run together in large groups of 20-30 head in the fall season.  Once opening day has passed, antelope become quite adapted at running on the first movement or noise.

Thorbardin Ranch offers a guided hunt package in a unique settings.  Our first hunt is on our Laramie Ranch of over 12,000 acres all contiguous on the Laramie Plains.

Laramie Ranch is Hunt Area 43, we offer 3-day hunts.  Lodging is in town where there are half a dozen new hotels.  Average cost of a hotel is around $100 per night, except during home football weekends for the University of Wyoming.

Antelope hunt is $1200 which includes lunches.

Coyote Hunts

Coyotes are predator animals in the State of Wyoming, therefore no licenses are required and hunting is allowed on a year round basis.  Of course winter time is the best for saving pelts, however, the fun and the calling don’t change just because of the seasons.

We offer fully guided hunts for one or two individuals on a daily basis.

Day rates are $150/per a single hunter

Day rates are $250 for two hunters

Annual coyote hunt pass $750 per hunter.

Prairie Dog Hunts

The prairie dog is another varmint that the State of Wyoming does not require a license for.  Hunting starts in late spring and continues until late fall.  These are challenging for any skilled marksman.  Bring plenty of ammo because there are a lot of opportunities for a long day of shooting.

1 Day guided hunt $150 per individual, no licenses required.

Annual Prairie Dog Hunt Pass $650 per hunter.

  Waterfowl Hunts
Laramie has a large number of prairie ponds that host large numbers of various waterfowl in the fall hunt season.  Thorbardin Ranch offers both morning and evening hunting times.  The fall season length in Laramie varies from year to year depending on how fast winter rolls in.
License and conservation stamp are required to hunt migratory birds.  Limits are set by the Wyoming Game and Fish, violators of these limits will be reported.
            Waterfowl morning hunt $100/hunter
            Waterfowl evening hunt $100/hunter.

            Waterfowl season hunting pass: $550.
