Laramie Plains RanchThe Laramie Plains Ranch is an old historic Wyoming ranch containing a lot of western history. This is a high plains ranch that sits on Brown Creek about 15 miles northwest of Laramie. Laramie is known as the "Hometown of Wyoming" for having the University of Wyoming. This ranch consists of very gentle rolling pastures and along the creek bottom it is very flat. During normal years, the ranch is able to flood irrigate about 1800 acres and the balance of the operation is dryland pastures. This ranch sits at an elevation of 7200 feet, which puts a tremendous amount of stress on the heart and lungs of cattle. Cattle that do well in this region are extremely good cattle. The cool summers are mostly parasite free and the frequent thunderstorms that roll across the prairie provide good short grass for high gaining calves or yearlings. This ranch is the company's future. While the facilities under the management and guidance of Cody Talbott have constantly been improved since acquiring this fine property in the spring of 1999, the company sees tremendous opportunities for significant improvement at all levels from wildlife habitat in the prairie ponds to reseeding much of the dryland pastures into newer and more productive grasses. The ranch consists of numerous pens and corrals that easily accommodate large numbers of cattle of different classes for management. The ranch also has its own small custom feedlot where quality control is managed to produce our all natural Thorbardin's beef. Take a moment and view the lovely
pictures of the ranch. Enjoy!
